optimistic that Ijebu State will be created in my lifetime, I will not rest until it is achieved” he
said.
Activities outlined for the 80th birthday celebration
of the paramount ruler who is the longest reigning first class king in Nigeria,
were also rolled out by the Ijebu Renaissance Group at the world press
conference.
According to the spokesman for the group, Chief Adetokunbo
Fassy-Yusuff, the event will run for six days beginning with a special
thanksgiving service at the Cathedral of Church of Saviour of Ijebu Ode on
Sunday 4th of May 2014 while Tuesday 6th of May will play
host to a colloquium on the Ijebu nation and a book presentation in honor of
the great monarch as well as awards to distinguish winners of Oba S.K Adetona Essay writing Competition. On May 7th
2014,there will be the finals of the maiden edition of Awujale Adetona Football
Competion at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, GRA-Ijebu Ode. Grand
Reception, paying of homage to the Paramount Ruler by Ijebu Obas, sons and
daughters and special prayer session at the Ijebu Ode central mosque will take place on the 8th and 9th
of May 2014 respectively. The grand finale which will be the grand Luncheon
Party will take please at The Marquee, Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium,
Ijebu Ode, on the 10th of May 2014.
Taking pride in the Ijebu brand, Chief Fassy-Yusuff describe
