It was all rain of amazing accolades at the grand luncheon party organize to round off the week-long 80th birthday anniversary of the prolific and paramount ruler of the Ijebu kingdom, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
In his
words, the President and commander-in-chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented by his chief of staff, Gen. Jones
Arogbofa, commended the paramount ruler for his commitment to the nation’s peace,
unity and economic prosperity during his 54 years on the throne. He added that
Oba Adetona, has enjoyed the peoples love and support because of his fatherly
leadership for over 54 years.
Thanking God on behalf of the great monarch, former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, described the Awujale of Ijebuland as a strong and supportive pillar of the past and current government.
“You have
always been there for us, past and present governments can attest to this and
we thank you deeply for this gesture.”
“To have spent
54 years on the throne is not an easy task and the people must be commended for
supporting your tenure to be successful.” Buhari added.
For the host
governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, no gift could be more honorable to celebrate
the living icon who he described as a colossus, than naming the first flyover
bridge in Ijebu-Ode after him so as to preserving his name and legacies for
generations yet unborn.
Another
great personality who stunned the gathering while celebrating the monarch at the
event was, the governor of Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson, who declared his presence
at the event as one of the decendant of the Ijebu kingdom adding that his
great-grandmother with the name Adebukola Fidipote hails from Ijebu kingdom
Other Eminent Nigerians and digniteries at the
event included, Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Adesina, PDP chairman,
Muhazu…, APC National Leader and fmr, governor of Lagos State, Bola Amhed Tinubu, fmr governor of
Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Oshoba, immediate past governor of OgunState, Gbenga

Aliko Dangote, Otunba Mike Adenuga, Chief Razak Okoya and Otunba Subomi Balogun,
