Fidson targets future brand ambassadors

Many parents and children may not know the importance of Astymin. It is a uniquely formulated mix of essential amino acids, vitamins, proteins and other minerals. Amino acids are the building blocks of life and the body’s requirement for healthiness and growth.
Various studies have indicated that better nutrition, especially in children, helps them in their academic performance. Also, better nutrition assists in the prevention of diseases and weak bones.
It is on this understanding that Fidson Pharmaceutical plc is promoting academic excellence in primary pupils across the country under the programme tagged ‘Astymin brilliance reward.’ The management of company last week in Lagos flagged off the third edition of the CSR initiative, which kicked off in 2011.
Under the programme, which is costing the company over N10 million this year, the company will select 200 private schools from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Delta and Enugu states. Each of the schools is required to nominate three best graduating pupils to represent it in a national text scheduled for July 27, this year in Lagos.
After the examination, the best pupils from the 200 schools across the states will be recognised, appreciated and rewarded with educational materials. With the programme, Fidson is not only deepening academic excellence but creating future Astymin ambassadors who will advance the importance of Astymin.
On how 200 schools would be selected from several private schools in those states, Ola Ijimakin, the company’s general manager, marketing, explained that the company had adopted some factors in selecting the schools such as proper registration with ministries.
The company is once again demonstrating its brand promise through several engagement platforms that impact positively on the lives of the people, Ijimakin said, recognising that the event had grown in number of schools, content and quality. The inaugural edition took place in July 2011 with 110 schools mostly from Lagos. The second edition had 170 schools covering Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.
Explaining the rationale for the event, he noted that “the Astymin Brilliance Reward (ABR) is one of the ways the brand intends to contribute to the development of the country’s educational system and the future of the Nigerian children.
“It is our attempt to enrich the lives of Nigerian children by supporting their drive for academic excellence and inspiring them to attain greater heights in life. We believe that the future of our nation is tied to what we put into our children today. Astymin does not just offer nourishment, the ABR is aimed at inculcating the virtues of hard work, diligence and a belief that honest work will be rewarded in our children.”
