Knorr brand set to identify best cook via competition

Unilever Nigeria plc, a major player in the Nigerian FMCG market, has introduced a cooking competition under its Knorr cooking reality show, a platform designed to allow cooks showcase their skills.
The competition, “Knorr Taste Quest” is also a platform to bring back cooking by families, which was the norm and a habit passed down from parent to children as a means of survival and a way of sharing a cultural and information lineage from one generation to the next.
The show is opened to consumers from all walks of life aged between 20-45 years old, who have passion for cooking, see food as pleasure and think they have what it takes to win the ultimate prize. During the unveiling of the show, the marketing director, Unilever Nigeria plc, David Okeme explained that “the show would go a long way to impact every participant as every contestant that gets to the show will leave with something worthwhile. Our root strengths lie in our expertise in local and international dishes and these we will showcase on the show.”
Speaking on the modalities of the show, Okeme said interested consumers were to go to the company’s website (www.unilevernigeria.com) and complete the entry form. Shortlisted participants would be invited for auditions where 20 contestants would emerge. These 20 contestants would go head-to-head to compete for the grand prize, while contestants would be eliminated on weekly based on their performance on tasks assigned.
The cooking competition, which is designed for participants to perform what they enjoy doing most, is also accompanied by gifts and sums of money. According to the category manager, Oiza Gyang the show is the company’s way of rewarding loyal consumers as there are lots of prizes up for grabs.
The winner of the show will walk away with brand new car, N1 million cash prize and kitchen equipment worth N300, 000. The first runner up gets N1 million cash prize and kitchen equipment worth N300, 000. The second runner up will win N500, 000 and kitchen equipment worth N300, 000. All 20 contestants would go home with different kitchen equipment and cash vouchers if they win any of the special tasks.
